Licensing & Requirements
Kansas has no statewide contractor license. In the Wichita metro area (the City of Wichita, unincorporated Sedgwick County, and several partner cities), contractors performing restoration and remediation work must hold a local contractor license issued through the Metropolitan Area Building and Construction Department (MABCD). Licensing requires passing an ICC trade exam, holding a master-level trade certificate, and carrying at least $300,000 in general liability insurance with MABCD named as certificate holder, plus workers' compensation and commercial auto insurance. Kansas has no state-level mold remediation license or certification requirement; local MABCD contractor licensing can still apply to remediation work performed in the metro.

Local Climate & Building Conditions
Haysville is a city of 11,262 (2020 census) just south of Wichita, and most of it sits behind the Wichita-Valley Center Floodway, now called the MS Mitch Mitchell Floodway. The flooding that does happen tends to be north of the floodway and along Cowskin Creek, a small Arkansas River tributary that runs through town. During the October 31, 1998 flood on Cowskin Creek, residents got no warning because flood-inundation maps did not yet exist, and USGS later published inundation maps for the creek (USGS, Estimated flood-inundation maps for Cowskin Creek in western Wichita, Kansas).
Typical Local Pricing
Haysville has no separate price list that we could find. The Angi 2026 ranges on our Water Damage Restoration and Mold Remediation pages ($1,384 to $6,387 for restoration, $1,223 to $3,757 for remediation) are the closest published benchmark. Ask for a written, itemized estimate before any work begins.
Municipal & County Notes
Haysville requires contractors to show proof of both a current Metropolitan Area Building and Construction Department (MABCD) contractor's license and a City of Haysville contractor's license before a permit is issued. Building permits are handled at the Public Works office at 401 S. Jane, and inspections are scheduled at 529-5940 (City of Haysville, Inspections & Permitting, 2025). Ask any contractor which licenses they hold and whether your repair needs a permit.
